Inspired by Jenna Lyons

Did you see Jenna Lyons on Oprah yesterday? She's the executive creative director at J. Crew and of course, lives a tres fashionable life. You can see additional photos of her gorgeous brownstone in Brooklyn here. Anyway, I was inspired by her fashion advice:
  • Make a statement with jewelry.
  • Balance feminine pieces with tomboy accents, like a military blazer.
  • Wear opposites. If you're wearing something tailored, sprinkle in some sequins.
  • Mix textures—pair tweed with silk, for example

Plus she was wearing these amazing sequin pants so she inspired me to break out my sequin scarf. I bought this cool scarf from Luxe and Lavish a while ago never had the guts to wear it such a sparkly item during the day. Sometimes I just need a little encouragement!

Lucky Deal of the Day

Do you know about Lucky's Deal of the Day? Each day Lucky readers can get a featured item for up to 50% off. Today it is In God We Trust's Hammered Charm Cuff. Usually $50, but $25 for today only! Since I've been fighting a major case of the winter blues, I decided to treat myself and I got the key cuff. Quick... you still have time to combat those winter blues too!

Canvas by Lands' End

Have you heard of Canvas, Lands' End's new spin off? It's their interpretation of timeless, American clothes for a new generation. It's a cross between J.Crew and Old Navy. They don't have a huge inventory yet but so far I like what I see... great styling and fabulous price points.

Woman's Poplin Shirtdress $69

Yes, please. Leather and canvas heel $125

Boyfriend Jeans $49.50

1st Dibs Style Compass

I recently discovered the Style Compass section of 1st Dibs, an online antique furniture, estate jewelry and haute couture marketplace. Style Compass has mini articles on the most exclusive names in the fashion and interior design world including Tory Burch, Peter Som, Ralph Rucci (with who I once had the most atrocious job interview with), and Newell Turner (the Style Director from my old magazine, House Beautiful). The lives of these icons are incredibly fascinating and engrossing.

Take a peek...you'll love the interactive, magazine quality of each article. Not to mention the fabulous photographs.
