Shopping in the City: Mood

You all know Mood from Project Runway fame but did you know that they have a whole section of upholstery fabrics downstairs?  That's where I've been going lately to get my fabrics for my lampshade and for a pillow project that still remains on my long to-do list.

Have you ever noticed that they never show the outside of Mood when they shoot Project Runway?  That's because it's in a nondescript office building with a bland lobby located on the 3rd floor.

The elevators have that old fashioned gate that slides over the doors and there's an elevator operator!
You don't see that much in the city these days.

So you step off the elevator and there it is!  Just incase you forgot, there's a huge Project Runway poster in the entrance.  That show must have done wonders for this store!

Downstairs is the upholstery fabric section filled with aisles and aisles of gorgeous fabric.  I could spend hours in here.

Prints in every color you can imagine.

Damasks

My favorite section, neutral colored linens.

The bolts seemingly go on forever!

Love this metallic printed fabric.

Mood (get it?!) boards

Luxurious ikat fabrics

Trims

There is a big range of prices at Mood.  Typically anything from $30 to $8 a yard.  I'm sure there is a large markup at a place as famous as Mood, but for now I like that it is easy to navigate and there are always a lot of people on staff to help you out.
