Allyson & Andrew's Wedding

This post is about a year and 2 months late but I'm so excited to share with you Allyson and Andrew's wedding from October 2009. I finally got around to ordering the pictures from her absolutely stunning and wedding and I'm so honored that I got to play a small part on their gorgeous day.

I started off by calligraphing her beautiful wedding invitations. Allyson's wedding was on Halloween so she did an amazing job of incorporating colors and icons of Halloween in a tasteful and classy way. Her wedding colors were black and white with hints of lime green.

Next, I helped Allyson design her wedding logo and stationery. She had already had her silhouette designed by Carter Kustera, a close friend of theirs whose work you might recognize from his collaborations with Jonathan Alder. She wanted to incorporate that silhouette throughout her wedding day stationery suite. I created the logo adding the date and the location, keeping it modern and a little bit funky.

Her stationery suite consisted of a hotel bag itineraries, stickers for the travel candles included in the hotel bag, ceremony programs, menus, and flags for the candied apples (picture below).

The wedding and ceremony took place at The Parker Hotel in Palm Springs. The location perfectly suited this unique wedding. I absolutely adore how Allyson and Andrew were literally framed through their entire ceremony by an actual over sized frame!

Allyson had the silhouettes blown up and framed as part of the wedding decor. I love how she kept incorporating that theme throughout.

The table was set with all black linens and place cards were white pumpkins. Completely elegant and the exact opposite of what you find at most weddings.

The reception itself was absolutely stunning with amazing larger than life sized flower centerpieces and spectacular lighting.

A very belated congratulations to you, Allyson and Andrew. Your wedding was magnificently unique and completely unforgettable. Thank you for letting me be a part of your big day!

Michaela's Wedding

You've followed me as I've chronicled Michaela's wedding, from her bridal shower invitations, to her wedding invitations and now I'm so excited to share the stationery from her stunning wedding this past June in Saratoga Springs, NY.

Starting with the bags that every guest received upon arrival to the hotel. We created a monogrammed sticker and a simple note, welcoming everyone to Saratoga Springs. You'll see the M&J monogram incorporated through the rest of the stationery. I always try to maintain a level of consistency throughout, it essentially "brands" your wedding and makes it that more special and memorable.

The hotel bag contained tasty treats from Michaela and Joe's respective hometowns: Philadelphia and Saratoga.

Michaela found these awesome bird cages from one of my favorite online stores, Save on Crafts.
They were also a complete bargain for 2 for $30, so she decided to use them for her guest table.

We created signs for the cages which were mounted using the same purple ribbon from the invitation belly bands. We also made matching stationery so guests could write a note to the newlyweds. I love this idea because it's much more personal than a signature in a guest book. The notes will be a cherished keepsake from the wedding.

Moving on to the reception... first of all, how stunning is the ballroom? The reception was held at the Canfield Casino right in the heart of Saratoga. The historic casino was an absolutely gorgeous location for the wedding.

The head table's menus were also the seating cards. I love the quirky titles that Michaela and Joe put on their menus.

The wedding favor was a deck of cards, fitting with the casino location. We created a fancier version of the monogram that covered the front of the package.

Guests were seated at round tables surrounding the head table. I absolutely loved the yellow and gold color scheme. And I always love a menu tucked neatly into a napkin.

Michaela made these cute chair covers to incorporate more yellows into the color scheme. It also created a layer of texture. This is a great idea because it isn't too fussy and bows are not required. It's was a simple and elegant way to differentiate the head table chairs.

Flowers were another huge element in the decor and I loved the different mix of fresh cut and potted plants. Since the ballroom ceilings were so high, the height and textures of the flowers were a dynamic part in bringing the entire room together.

No detail was overlooked and the memorable day went flawlessly. Michaela and Joe, thank you for letting me be a part of your gorgeous wedding!

9.15.07

Yesterday was our second year anniversary! To celebrate the occasion I thought I'd share some of the detail shots from our wedding. It was such a beautiful day and I wish I could re-live it all over again. I had such a blast creating my wedding stationery. The invitations were letterpressed by Page Stationery and I created my own ceremony programs, menus and table cards to emulate them by scanning the border and using the same fonts as the invitation.

I absolutely adored our wedding flowers from Cymbidium Floral. Jessica did an amazing job and was able to execute the arrangements exactly as I had imagined them.

Our cake was from Jenny's Cakes. I had Jenny copy the shape of this cake and she incorporated pink and chocolate brown ribbon that I picked up from M&J Trimmings.

Our wedding colors were pink and brown. Hence, the pink and chocolate brown candy. The groom's cake was a surprise for Mike. He used to row in college so I had Jenny decorate it with their logo.

The candy bags were imprinted by an address stamp that I ordered online and customized.

Instead of a guest book, I ordered a bound picture album from Kodak Picture Gallery and people were able to sign it like a yearbook.

Our tent was rented from Sperry Tents. They make their tents from hand sewn sailcloth and it's hard to tell in this picture but they come with white flags attached to the posts. (That's what sold me.)

Finally, these amazing photographs were taken by Jodi from Rhapsody Studios. I highly recommend her if you're ever planning a wedding in the Boston area!

Happy Anniversary, honey!

Erin & Matt's Wedding

I had the pleasure of helping my good friend Erin with some of her wedding stationery. She has fabulous taste and it was a wonderful collaboration all around.

We started off with the save the date. She came up with the concept and I designed it. The pictures were taken by Erin and were representative of each stage in their relationship. They met at the beach, the piano bar is one of their favorite date night spots, the heart cloud is a picture from a vacation in Paris and the bench is in the park where Matt proposed. Erin had them printed and on semi glossy paper and cut at Staples and we rounded the edges with a paper punch.

A few months later I did Erin's wedding invitation calligraphy. She wrote a cute post about it here.

We threw the bride-to-be a bridal shower and I created the favors: cute bud vases with a personalized tag.

Her cousin, Robbie, designed the beautiful wedding invitations and we carried the theme throughout.

I created the goodie bags for the wedding favors by designing a sticker from the monogram Robbie designed on the invitation. They were printed on adhesive paper and punched out with a round 2 inch hole punch. We stuck them onto white paper bags and trimmed the top off with pinking shears to give it a finished edge.

Finally I designed the wedding program for the hotel bags. The cover was based off of the invitation and we used the same fonts. We printed them double sided on 8 1/2 by 11 and folded them in half vertically.

Having a consistent theme through colors, fonts and designs ties all the special elements of a wedding together. It is an easy way to make your wedding memorable and distinctive.

Congratulations Erin and Matt... it was a beautiful wedding!
